We decided to stop in for happy hour. They had a fabulous happy hour menu. We tried the prime rib soup, lamb chops, calamari and beef tips. Each one was delicious! The bartender was very friendly and made fabulous Martinis. We finished off with the triple crown cake- chocolate heaven! I highly recommend this restaurant!

There are so many options in Myrtle Beach and Thoroughbred was a good alternative if you're looking for a low key steak house. They have an award winning wine list, but its all bottled. The glass menu is pretty limited. We started off with calamari and the meat was rather small but it was fried to perfection. I ordered the chilled sampler platter ($39) and my husband ordered filet mignon ($35). I had a "check-in deal" with Yelp that was for a free appetizer with purchase of 2 entrees and the waitress said it wasn't applicable because my $39 dinner wasn't considered an entree. She later said they would let it slide..... Besides that, the meal was great. The oysters were the biggest oysters I've seen in quite some time! The ahi tuna had delicious grape tomatoes on top, and I'm not a fan of tomatoes! I'd recommend this place if you want a great steak in Myrtle Beach. The atmosphere is very dim and intimate.

Food wise this place is 5 stars in any city, but if it was anywhere other than Myrtle Beach I'd probably give it 4. The restaurant's look is very dated, but nostalgic. It's like walking in to a steak house in the 70s. It reminded me of something out of an old mob movie. The food was amazing, and service was great. They accommodated our large party of 13, and never skipped a beat. Some people at our table got Chateubriand Bouquetiere which feeds two. The table side presentation was pretty cool. I had the short ribs, which are prepared in a sous vide for 12 hours. Possibly the best beef I've ever had. All you needed was a fork to eat it. Amazing. Their creamed spinich was better than any of the large chain fine dining steak houses. The split checks with ease, and included the gratuity so it was an easy transaction. I've always thought that Myrtle Beach was just 125 item buffets, pancake houses, and diner food, so I was impressed at how great the food was at Thoroughbreds. GET THE SHORT RIBS! (I must admit , I'm more of a Folly/Edisto Beach person than a Myrtle Beach person) I'll definitely be back when I'm in the area.

This is the best happy hour on Myrtle Beach. We have done the research and this is the place for an amazing happy hour. The service is first rate and the food is always amazing. We have been attending happy hour here for years and each time it gets better. John was our server tonight and he is one of the finest in the business. This place never misses a beat. I'm hesitant to write a good review for Thoroughbreds because we often enjoy a quiet intimate setting here when we happy hour here but this place deserves the recognition. The martini menu and the house wine list are both exceptional. Don't miss happy hour at Thoroughbreds.

AMAZING food and service!! This was my second trip here(the first being for a wedding reception). We had a group of 14 including a toddler . Some of us came early for happy hour. The hostess was very gracious and held our table until we were all ready. The bartender was great. When we were ready for dinner, the waitstaff was attentive. They brought the kid's meal first without having to be asked. I ordered the 8oz prime rib which is melt in your mouth perfect. Even the sides and bread are delicious. You cannot go wrong eating here, and I can't say enough good things about Thoroughbreds.

Steak Wes fantastic...we are a little snobbish when it comes to steak ...we have had a place at north MB for about 4 yrs...and this was first visit...Will be back for sure.

I'm not going to be able to say enough about Thoroughbreds!!!! I'll start with the service as it just amazing and even if the food were crappy the service alone would render 5 stars. The food, o my goodness the food.... It was 7 of us so we're all able to taste each others food and everything we had was amazing. The shrimp and grits- amazing, the scallops -amazing, mignon, the chicken, the bananas foster, the wine, even down to the tea is just FANTASTIC. If you are in the Myrtle Beach area this place is a must go!

Gee, what a letdown (this was one time that my fellow yelpers don't share my values for fine dining). Maybe for Myrtle Beach this is one of the better places, but that doesn't mean it deserves that standing, especially considering what cuisine has evolved into in the world. This was dinner for 65-85 year olds' set in a time warp of 1977. My wife and I had: Lamb lollipops appetizer Crabcake appetizer Caesar salad Side salad Eggplant parmigiano Side of vegetable medley Kentucky Derby pie Three different wines, by the glass Service was inconsistent. First white wine by the glass was sour and had turned. 2nd glass of same wine from a new bottle was ok. I can't recall ever getting wine by the glass that had already turned bad! First glass of red wine was flat. Second red wine wad vibrant and fresh. Salad was the best part of the meal. Lambchops were thin and tough. Crabcake was 25% filler, processed, boring, old and bland. Eggplant parmigiano was overspiced with oregano, and cheese had not sufficiently melted.Vegetables were overbuttered. Even dessert wasn't too good, and I'm a sucker for anything chocolaty and nutty. Bottom line, this was a meal I might have thought good 40 years ago. If you're going out with your aging parents or grandparents, then this restaurant will be appreciated.

My husband and I had a date night while in MB. My mom said she heard Thoroughbreds was good so we decided to check it out. When we walked in there were beautiful Christmas wreaths and Christmas decorations. The lighting is dim and romantic. We ordered the escargot as an appetizer and it was delicious! My husband ordered the lamb and I ordered the grouper. My husband is still raving about how the lamb was the best lamb he has ever had. I thought the grouper was also delicious.... Not the best I have ever had but it sure was good. My only complaint would have been our waitress. She really didn't make the experience or add to it. Luckily I had great company or I would have given this place 4 stars.

Ask for Beth! She was attentive without being over bearing. We ordered the Hot Seafood appetizer & could barely finish it. The Coffee Encrusted New York Strip was the special tonight. Awesome meal! Can't wait to dine here again.

Fan-Freaking-Tastic! Sit in the Library, ask for Lisa, get the table side Caesar, followed by Chateaubriand and the Filet Mignon. The creamed spinach still fills my dreams. One of he best meals of my life! Beautiful restaurant, lovely people. Ask your server about the person that haunts the upstairs! Positively heavenly.

Yum yum yum. Great place to go when you need something upscale and different from the typical fare in mb. Great steaks and fresh shrimp. Not a place for kids but if you need a good date night recommendation , this is your place

Just OK. I have to say that I was disappointed. The bar service was great, but we weren't too thrilled with the food. Lauren, the bartender, was very sweet and attentive. The food was a little disappointing. My husband ordered the prime rib (end cut) and it seemed to be microwaved. I ordered the lambchops, which was decent. I was disappointed In the duck appetizer. The sauce was fine, but it didn't taste like duck. The waiter rushed us a bit, and we were his only customers ( we arrived at 430, which is when they open. Noone else was in the restaurant - no reason to rush!) He was pleasant, but I don't like being rushed through a meal.)

Service was great, food was average, price was high. With a party of four I asked each to rate it 1-5 then averaged the rating.

For our first wedding anniversary, my husband and I planned a weekend trip to Myrtle Beach. My husband surprised me by doing some research beforehand and finding the restaurant he wanted us to go to on our anniversary: Throroughbreads Chophouse & Seafood Grille. I was a little concerned as we were parking because of the very few cars in the lot seeing it was a Sunday evening, but all of those concerns were immediately eliminated as we were being seated. The interior of the restaurant is upscale and intimate; a perfect balance of "romantic" lighting and still being able to see your food :) Our server, John, was immediately there to greet us and even offered me a black napkin instead of the usual white one as I was wearing a black dress. From there, the entire meal was perfectly timed. There was no rushing for us to order or finish a course and John was kind enough to recommend a trio of wines that would blend nicely with each course of the meal. For the main course we chose the Chateaubriand Bouqetiere, a meal for two that is prepared table side. It was perfectly portioned and cooked to perfection. We stayed for a little while after the meal to enjoy our wine and ordered some cheesecake to take with us - which was delicious. The entire experience at Throroughbreads was wonderful and my only regret is that I did not submit this review earlier as our anniversary was the end of March (2014). We will definitely be returning and have already made an internal list of people we would like to bring with us. A very big THANK YOU to our server, John, who made the evening extremely wonderful.

This is a beautiful restaurant in regard to interior and the wine list is rather diverse too. Service? Above par. 4 Star in my book. The issue I have is the food, Thoroughbreds is Myrtle Beach "high end" restaurant. Average dinner with attributes will exceed $50.00 per person. Add wine, then you will be north of $75.00. My grouper, as with the last time was ok, to be candid I can have a better fish dish at Macaroni Grill, yes Macaroni Grill. Due to blood pressure I always order my dish with this specific instruction "please prepare 100% of my dish with absolutely NO added salt by the chef, please" Even with this I felt like a deer in the woods slopping on a salt lick. The salad, as again with the sodium I cannot have the big C salad, I ordered a garden side with dressing on the side. Ok, I was expecting small, but what I received at 10bucks was something equal to a single dip ice cream cup. Bread? Ok, but the butter chips were frozen solid. Others at the table ordered beef. Basically, the same comments. Some like it, others were "OK" impressed. A secret here too. If you come in and I think Christopher made comment, make sure you inform the host to sit you at a private table, corner, and quiet as possible. That is if you want a little quiet romance with your wife, girlfriend, boyfriend, or paid attachment.

I Have started using yelp every week but have yet to draft my first review. I don't know if the stars all lined up but exact words were if " if I owned a restaurant I'd like each item served to be that good". we arrived at 8:30 last night. Appetizer escargot and the crabcake - both perfect the crabcake was smaller than i wanted but maybe just b/c was so good. the Filet is probably the best I've ever had & grouper was unique and very good.

First I'd like to preface this with the fact that I'm not used to the South Carolina way, I'm a Northern California girl and very used to the level of service in California and the more laid back attitude. There was VERY little in the way of quality service. I felt more like a nuisance than a customer. The food and appetizers are pre-made and not customizable. For those who have dietary restrictions, this is NOT the place for you. I wanted a small change to the escargot (no bread crumbs) and the waitress looked at me with an expression of abject horror, then when I had the audacity to inquire if there was an oil and vinegar option for dressing (there wasn't) I was LOUDLY informed that a Cesar salad was $11 more and the side salad was FREE. (This IS detailed on the menu, and the Cesar totally isn't worth it, just FYI) Then when I wanted Asparagus and NOT the steamed carrots that came standard with the menu that was also pointed out to be an issue. On the flip side, the steak was very well prepared and grilled, the seafood pasta was well done (with the exception of tails still being on the shrimp). The wine list is extensive, the bar is full and generous. If they would hire more circumspect and well trained staff, who didn't tell you that the MB natives NEVER go out on the town IN MB, rather they go to Charleston when they want to go somewhere nice, it would have been a better experience. Also, the hostess seemed bothered by the fact we had arrived and led us to our table without the benefit of a menu...still a bit confused about that, especially considering we had reservations. I would bypass this if you are looking for a good dining experience, but if you want something a step up from a chain with good meat, limited seafood, and extensive alcohol, this is the place to go.

I was disappointed after reading the glowing review posted. The Thoroughbred restaurant has a great atmosphere with a great wait staff however the food was sorely lacking. I had grouper fried with penko crumbs and lobster sauce and my girlfriend had crab stuffed shrimp. To call the food bland would be a serious understatement. At a restaurant where the average meal is $30, I should not have to add SALT to my food. Honestly, I am not a foodie. My favorite restaurant is Chipotle and not some fancy off-the-beaten path restaurant. The food here was just plain and completely uninteresting. If I could go back I would have gone to RED LOBSTER instead. Yeah, that's right. Red Lobster. TL DR: The atmosphere is nice but the food is seriously poor especially for the astronomical price.

Three in our party, one ordered new York strip, another the filet and the third the ribeye. All three cooked perfectly. Ribeye way too fatty, even for a ribeye. Other steaks good but lacked the flavor you find in really good beef. Also bread brought to table had strange texture and was heavily seasoned with pepper. Would not return, money better spent at Ruth's Chris.

I almost didn't come to this place because there was no review. Hopefully this review will help the next yelper:) During our stay in the Myrtle Beach area, it was quite and mostly empty. When we walked into this restaurant, thought, it was packed. Luckily we made a reservation. The decor was very classy. It was dark and old school and elegant with some race track theme. I did not want to get up from the big cushy chair once I sunk in there. Anyway, on to the food...... We got some very interesting appetizers. My cashew crusted duck was out of this world. It was as described, cashew crusted and fried to golden color. The duck inside was still nice and juicy. It was done to true perfection. The blackened lamb chop looked and smelled really good too. Too bad, I didn't try it. I had a salad with some special dressing with poppy seeds. It was pretty delicious. The best part of the meal was the prime rib. I'm a big fan of prime ribs because it requires less chewing when the meat is good and it's done right. I have no idea how they roasted this one. It was beyond just the regular prime rib texture and taste. Normally you wouldn't be ordering prime ribs for taste, but this piece had unique taste that was out of this world. You are definitely missing out if you are a vegetarian:-D If the duck was a 5 star, this has to be a 5+ star! We spent a good 3 hours in this restaurant. We pretty much closed the place. We were opening wine after wine until we had no idea what we were talking about. We even requested for some "candies". That's nothing new of course. People do dumb things with more than a few drinks in the system. What's surprising was that our overzealous waiter actually scored XXX (blipped out for the prescription narcotics we requested) for us. A few drinks plus the XXX, I had the best night of sleep with no hangover. It's not everyday that your waiter provides whatever you asked for. He even came up with reading glasses when one of the guys claimed that he can't read the dessert menu. Next time, I'm asking for belly dancers:-D

We use to love this place, but drinks don't have the same quality, and food was not worth the price. My vegetables were soft and cold. Steak was served in a gravy sauce. We will not dine here again.

On June 1, 2013 I had my wedding reception here @ Thoroughbreds on the Paddock Porch, it was better than I could have ever imagined it. The food was incredible! Dave Ament the GM went above and beyond his role to make sure everything was incredible. All bartenders and service staff were friendly and willing to help in anyway. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone I know.

First and foremost, this is a steakhouse on the end of the spectrum leaning towards upscale, fancy and pricey. That is exactly why we we chose to dine there. I feel like the less than stellar reviews of this place here on Yelp stem from the fact that the reviewer was trying to make this place be something else it isn't or what it claims to be. Nonetheless, we saw this restaurant on our drive into town and wanted to experience this place, based on some of the more educated reviews here on Yelp. We were seated right in front of the fireplace, which was very special and romantic. The Lowcountry Crabcake was tasty and replete with fresh crab meat. The French Onion Soup was your standard soup, but I do have to acknowledge that it was not too salty, as some restaurants can easily make it this way. The house salads were also standard, but I do have to recommend the house dressing. This sweet and sour poppyseed dressing was very tasty and made me regret ordering bleu cheese. We each ordered the 7 oz filet mignon Oscar style (asparagus, crab meat, béarnaise.) I chose to have my filet done "coffee style," which, as explained to me, meant that ground up espresso beans were put on the meat before grilled. It didn't taste like coffee, but rather gave a nutty, roasted taste to the meat. My husband enjoyed his filet in the blackened style. Both complimented the Oscar style well. The Flaming Bananas Foster cooked table side was a treat to watch. We also enjoyed a bottle of wine and two well-made martinis. Was this expensive? Well, that depends on how much you value quality food and exemplary service. Our server Gabriel was a true professional and made our dining experience even better. Do yourself a favor and go to Thoroughbreads to experience the finer side of the Myrtle Beach restaurant scene. The restaurant is decorated to resemble, I think, the home of a wealthy Southern horse owner. There's nothing wrong with that. I liked the feeling of thinking I was possibly in a home in Kentucky horse country. Just go there to relax and enjoy.

Great service, an impeccable and tender piece of filet mignon, and even a solid grouper dish on the menu. It's tough to find good fine dining in Myrtle Beach, but Thoroughbreds is just what the doctor ordered if your looking for a truly enjoyable meal in a town littered with tourist traps serving all sorts of garbage. While not a restaurant for younger children, this is certainly not a bad place to bring older children or teenagers.

My husband and I had a pre-Valentine's Day dinner while visiting the beach. We were seated in a gorgeous room right in front of a fireplace. It was quiet and romantic (until the loud couple arrived). My husband and I both ordered appetizers. Shrimp and Grits and the Pecan Encrusted Duck. I thought the duck was a little overcooked, but still had great flavor! We both ordered the 6 oz filet mignon, which came with mashed potatoes and a house salad. I recommend trying their house dressing, which is a poppy honey mustard. It was delicious! The filet mignon was perfectly cooked! We finished off the evening with cheesecake and the Kentucky derby pie. The cheesecake was really rich and I think it needed a bit more sugar. The Kentucky derby pie was like a chocolate chess pie. It was very good! The service was excellent! In the middle of our dinner, another party was seated next to us and they were quite loud, otherwise, I would've said that it's very romantic and cozy.

I have been to Thoroughbred's at least 40 times in the past . I use to go so often I had my own waiter that I requested and he would request me if he saw I was coming and there was a mix up in the seating. The food service and atmosphere has always been impeccable. I have never had a complaint or issue in the many times I have been there. I left Myrtle beach for a few years and came back recently . I had taken out a very special girl and thought it would be wise to impress her with this fine restaurant and good quality food. When we got there we both ordered steak since the menu was kind of questionable. We requested our steaks to be done " Medium " . When we got them they were like shoe leather and barely could cut them ( Both of Them ! ) . They were cooked so bad they were grey in the middle. There must have been an issue in the kitchen because as we were cutting the steak , the server asked us if they were overcooked ? And of course they were. When he brought us our 2 new steaks the were at least pink in the middle but still overcooked . The meat tasted very cheap quality and tough. The bill was $98 and I was embarrassed to even pay it but I did . I have never been one to make a fuss but this place was ridiculous ! I could have had a much better meal at AppleBee's and payed much less. The next day I found out that the restaurant had changed hands a while back , which is probably the real issue here . This restaurant will never be close to what it was and I am not surprised it was empty at 7:00pm . Close it Down !!!! Let it die with a great legacy or change the name to protect the innocent !

The Holy Grail of Fine Dining on the East Coast. Steak, Seafood, Wines...This is the place. Locals are friendly, but they hate the annoying tourists too. Don't be that guy. Start with Angels on Horseback (Bacon wrapped scallops), the only scallops I'll eat, because they're perfect here. Not your thing, try the Prime Rib Potato Soup, YUM! Grouper is always great as is the Salmon and Swordfish. Finish with tangy Key Lime Pie or Creme Brulee. Fantastic! Servers are A++. Without a doubt the single best restuarant/dining experience every time I've been (5 times, 5 years). Its a must try if you're within an hour drive. A note of caution: avoid the golfers fresh off the course all day. They'll be loud and half teed off already. No worries, just ask to be seated somewhere quieter if you see them. Pretty easy to spot 'em too, they're all sunburned, blowhards, flashy watches, and loud mouths. There will be four of them as well.

I was a regular customer until about 4 years ago when the food quality deteriorated. This summer I thought I'd give another try and to my surprise, both the prime rib (which is the reason I visit) returned to excellent. Service was very good also.

Gorgeous interior, delicious food, good service, fine dining. This place is known for its steak, I ordered filet mignon, but we had the lamb as well and it was superior! They cook the meat correctly as requested. They have a couple "prepare for you at the table" dishes that looked like fun like a banana dessert with fire. I have been here twice, we went about 3 years ago while in Myrtle Beach and finally went back this year. It was even better than I remembered. It is a beautiful place and an all around excellent dining experience.

Food was just excellent -service was great, and if you hit it on the right now, it can be a great location for a romantic dinner. We happened to hit it when a group of loud rude golfers were eating in the same room as us and were disrespectful to their waiter - waiter handled it like a professional and I was very impressed with the overall patience he showed - menu has a good selection....but it is not cheap

This restaurant was recommended to us by a local resident as a good seafood/steak house. The variety on the menu was what made our decision to actually try this place out. Our experience was less than desirable. From the moment we walked in the decor was dated. The hostess and servers were very friendly and attentive. I'm sure at one time this restaurant was top notch for the area but with new, fresh restaurants opening on every corner, they really need to step up their game. A great menu is a good start but the quality of the food served off that menu is a must especially at the price point they are at. We started out by ordering a couple glasses of wine which were acceptable house wines served in the finest dollar store glasses, the same ones I have used at outdoor dinner parties. We weren't famished so we decided to try a few appetizers to share as our meal. We started with the prime rib, potato & mushroom soup which was ok. Next we had oysters thoroughbreds which essentially was oysters Rockefeller but there was so much bread crumb topping that I was searching for the oysters. The sashimi tuna was served rare which was good but it came with wasabi, ginger and cocktail sauce which was an odd combination to me. The lamb chops were very small and had hardly any flavor and the scallops wrapped in bacon were average at best and dry. The duck tenderloins had an interesting flavor with the cashew coating which was actually good but how can you really mess up something that is deep fried? We decided to finish off our meal with a tasty dessert and we both were equally disappointed. The Kentucky derby pie (or pecan pie) was not fresh had been microwaved to the point that the crust was so rubbery it couldn't even be cut through with a fork. The ice cream however tasted just like we expected from Breyers. When I go out to a fine dining restaurant, I expect to get quality service as well as quality food.

We came here because they offered a free appetizer through yelp and they had a oyster dish I wanted to try. I was impressed all the dishes were delicious and Chuck our server was new but was great. I had the hot seafood sampler and loved the bacon wrapped scallops. The crab cakes and the mashed potatoes were also great. This is an upscale restaurant so they are pricey. The Filet was $35 and the sampler was $39 (enough to split). Their Martinis are $12, I didn't get one on this trip but that seemed like a reasonable price.

We really enjoyed our dinner here. Chuck, our server, is Mr. Cool. He chatted and joked with us while taking our order. Our food arrived promptly and was pretty tasty. The atmosphere is nice - dark and intimate, and the music didn't hurt either (I sang along with several songs. This might not have been great for anyone sitting nearby, but I enjoyed it.) The desserts were great too (APPLE CAKE). I'd definitely recommend Thoroughbreds.

My husband and I ate here the first time, on our Honeymoon (April, 2004). If I could use only one word to describe that first experience, I'd have to say, incredible! The ambience: So rich, with lovely oil paintings, all around. Pure elegance! Bathrooms too! The food: Incredible. Cooked to perfection, proper temp, and the presentation, amazing! We usually get the CHATEAUBRIAND BOUQETIERE, and it is so, so good! The service: Our waiter, JOSH, was simply the best. Very accommodating in every way! The price: Worth every penny. Well, dollar. But you get so much, with well sized servings. He and I have been back to Thoroughbreds several times over the years. We live in Raleigh, but when we go to Myrtle Beach, Thoroughbreds is the only restaurant we visit! Five stars, in every way. The ONLY thing they need to change is this: On their website, their New York Style Cheesecake is incorrectly described as: "A 3/4"tall delectable delight. Made with real cream cheese and pure vanilla. Topped with your choice of caramel or raspberry sauce. Finished with fresh fruit." 99% of that is correct, however the cheesecake is NOT 3/4" tall. It's THREE and one quarter inch tall. Big difference, indeed. We let them know this typo was on their website on August 31, 2013. Hopefully, someone will correct this. We highly recommend Thoroughbreds, and look forward to many return visits, in the coming years.

I am local and had a girls night out there last week the appetizers were good as usual the wine was great , atmosphere is great the waitress however, was terrible ! She had no interest in checking back with us . She had absolutly no personality, we had to go to bar for a refill and silverware. other than that was a good nite.

As a little background, we have been coming to Thoroughbreds for roughly the last 13 years during our annual golf trip. In past years, we have had a nice experience, so much so that we have come back every year we were in Myrtle Beach. Our experience at Thoroughbreds during our last few visits has been less and less desirable each time. Being that Thoroughbreds became part of our "tradition" each year we kept coming back. After our last (and final) visit we have officially crossed Thoroughbreds off our list moving forward. The service was horrible and "rapid fire", which made the meal very unpleasant and rushed. Our waiter Lenko made our experience feel as if he needed to turn over tables as fast as possible. This made the entire experience downright unenjoyable. The food was ok but certainly not great (especially for the price). In years past if you asked me about Thoroughbreds I would have recommended them but now I would recommend on passing on them and getting a better value for the money elsewhere. Service=1 star; Food=3 stars; Net rating=2 Stars

This place is a complete rip off. We came with a large group and the wait staff and management totally misled us into an outrageously high bill. Stay away from this den of thieves...

Sadly dropping my rating to 2 stars. My husband and I were visiting Myrtle Beach and stopped by Thoroughbreds expecting a wonderful meal, but were met with nothing but a bad attitude and over cooked food. I have been to Thoroughbreds multiple times, and though maybe this time was just a fluke- but after telling our friends and family about our experience on 7/1/12, we kept getting the same responses: "It changed hands" and "not what it used to be". With that in mind, this is probably our last time visiting Thoroughbreds. We were greeted by a nice hostess and manager, sat quickly, and noticed that the restaurant was not very full for dinner. Suzie our waitress came over and immediately we felt judged by her. Either she did not like us, or just did not want to work that evening. Or perhaps she is feeling the brunt of the "changed hands" as well...who knows, but what we do know is that we felt completely robbed of our date night. No smile, no enthusiasm, and no sense of humor, Suzie had a snippy comment for everything we asked. When I asked for a beer list, she couldn't produce one, and did not know what I was talking about when I asked for a local selection. So instead I opted for a Malbec, and when I asked her her thoughts "it's fine" was all I got. We ordered bacon wrapped scallops and soups for appetizers. The French Onion soup was the highlight of my evening. The bacon wrapped scallops were plump and delicious as well. We tried to order the Ceasar salad for 2, but Suzie told us we could not do that since we were already getting a soup and an appetizer. She also made sure to point out that it was an extra $11 per person for it, to which I replied "Money is not an issue". For dinner, my sirloin was cooked med-well, when I asked for med-rare, and my husbands New Zealand lamb was nothing special. Coated in a sweet syrup sauce, it tasted almost like a desert. I took 2 bites of my steak and had had enough. Suzie did ask if I wanted another one, and I refused. I was just over the whole experience. She threw in a piece of cheesecake for us for desert as an apology, which was very nice of her. But I think the experience as a whole needs work. The guy who kept filling my water was great. Very personable and attentive. I wish i remembered his name. My husband ordered a Manhattan from the bar, and it was so strong I could smell it across the table. I think it was just straight bourbon. In all, I hope Thoroughbreds picks up the slack. Sad to see a staple in Myrtle Beach cuisine take a fall like that.

My husband and I went to have dinner and chose this restaurant! It surpassed any expectations we had!! It was all delicious from the lamb lollipops to the derby pie! I had the New York strip which had a coffee bean crust did not taste like coffee it just enhanced the flavor, steak was expertly prepared, the mashed potatoes were to die for!! The only thing I wish was that we would have gotten the table side Caesar salad!

Delicious! Had the eggplant parm and the boyfriend had a steak. The service was great and the food was yummy! Will be back on special occasions (due to the price).
